Mid-century set of six dining chairs designed by Bill Stephens for Knoll, circa 1970s. This set features a bentwood walnut frame that gives the side profile a wavy appearance. The front and back legs extend from the side of the frame giving a streamlined approach.
The entire front and back are upholstered allowing for a comfortable seated position and a great look from both angles. We have newly reupholstered this set in a blue velvet. The blue coloration is a medium tone denim blue that can easily be perceived as darker or lighter depending on the light it is subjected to. The blue works very well with the warm walnut frames. A fantastic set that I would venture to say combines some Danish influence with American mid-century design. In overall good vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age and use.
