Mid-century room divider designed by Broyhill, circa 1960s. A part of Broyhill’s sought after Brasilia line. Inspired by the architectural vision of Oscar Niemeyer’s Brasília with its arches found throughout the entire Broyhill Brasilia collection.An extremely versatile piece as it is finished from both sides, allowing to be floated in the middle of a room.
This unit features two pieces, both crafted from warm walnut wood. The base of the divider is a cabinet with four hinged doors. The cabinet is adorned front and back with vertical slatted bands that add great dimension and conceal the doors. The doors have brass handles towards the top, therefore hidden from the eye. The left-hand side opens to three drawers and the right-hand side opens to a cabinet with internal shelf. Sitting atop four angled walnut legs and cross stretcher that centers the piece nicely.
The upper hutch section offers open shelving. There are three sections with two long shelves. The front and back of the hutch showcase the arches wonderfully. The open shelving is so much fun to stage with smalls and plants as they are visible from multiple angles. In overall good vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age and use.
