Mid-Century FD 133 ‘Spade’ Lounge by Finn Juhl for France & Daverkosen

$3,500.00

Mid-Century FD 133 ‘Spade’ Lounge by Finn Juhl for France & Daverkosen. Made circa 1950s, Denmark. An incredible example of craftsmanship and the versatility of teak wood, a masterclass of design details. Notable for being the first industrially produced teak chair, it popularized the wood in Scandinavian design.

The rounded elements in the armrests add fantastic contrast to the tapered splayed legs. The armrests are subtly curved almost giving the illusion to a different material all together, such as leather. Crossbars connect the legs together to create additional stability. The backrests is equally as impressive with its curvature and open back. The open back showcases the bungee-like supports. The elastic bands add dimension to the chair and provide a comfortable seated position. Adaptable to the users weight and ergonomic.

We have newly reupholstered this chair with new foam and new black leather, keeping it classic. The black works really well in cohesion with the teak frame without distracting the eye. The elastic supports have also been replaced with new elastics. In overall fantastic vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age and use.

Dimensions: 29.5” W x 30.75” D x 31” H
