Mid-century leather and rosewood model no. MP-211 by Percival Lafer. Made circa 1970s, Brazil. A gorgeous mix of materials and incredible design showcase why Lafer is one of our favorite designers from the mid-century era.
Rectangular shaped rosewood legs angle inwards creating a unique profile. The legs have a gap allowing the leather straps to be tied within the legs and connect to the fiberglass frame.
The fiberglass frame supports the cushion. The frame has a leather covering creating the illusion of one singular piece or cushion. The leather covering the fiberglass is original and presents minor wear.
The cushion rests atop the frame and curves over the edges of the frame for both aesthetic and comfort purposes. We reinforced the original foam and reupholstered the sofa in black leather to remain true to the original design. The leather is segmented into sections with seams running vertically. Buttons were added to create a bit of delineation. Leather ties were added to each corner to incorporate with the legs as the original upholstery did.
When a piece is absolutely perfect as originally designed, but needs a little love - we tried to mimic the original upholstery as much as possible. An incredible sofa that provides comfort and the most visual appeal. In great vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age and use.
