Mid-century credenza manufactured by Heywood Wakefield, circa 1950s. This piece was a part of Wakefield’s ‘Prophecy Group’ collection. The oak wood is warm tone with excellent grain. The piece features many different design elements.
There are two large drawers aligning the bottom half. Both drawers have original metal drawer handles with a bow tie shape. The upper half has two tambour (slatted) doors that open vertically. The tambour doors have the same metal handles as the drawers below. Behind each tambour door are two slimmer internal shelves.
The top of the credenza extends beyond the body adding ample surface area and an angular appearance. The wooden legs are slightly tapered and mounted to the sides of the credenza. In overall great vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age and use.
