Queen Of The Viral by local artist Nicholas Portanova
Acrylic on Canvas Framed, 2025
Artist Statement
A modern view of an ancient queen. She, like the rest of us, is comprised of many feelings. She wears her mask and crown to show her authority over all and at the same time shows her kindness, beauty and humanity. She is complex and engaging. Her head is tilted toward us with her eyes engaging ours as if to say, “How may I help you? Ask and I shall answer.”
The painting has a fluorescent lemon yellow background to provide contrast for the darker colors for the queen allowing her to be in focus with pride and honor.
The painting is varnished with three coats of permanent varnish to protect the light fast paint. As the final step, a removable coat of varnishwas applied to protect the permanent varnish.
Dimensions: 20.75” W x 1.25” D x 24.5” H
